About Our Ministry
Our class is open to women of all ages and walks of life, from young adults to seniors, from single to married. We enjoy powerful times of prayer and encouragement and provide the opportunity for older women to mentor younger women. Often, class time is based upon a Bible-based book/video series, in which ladies have the freedom to participate as they are able.
The purpose of RefresHer is to function as a forum for Bible-based book/video study, prayer, and refreshing fellowship among Christian women.
Goals of RefresHer
To meet the needs of women who are interested in going deeper into the Word of God with their sisters in Christ and foster the development of spiritual growth.
To encourage one another, build friendships, and aid those who would benefit from the availability of a women’s Bible study in the community.
RefresHer sessions are generally held twice a year, from September to May, with a break from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Sessions range from six to eleven weeks long, depending on the given study. Ladies meet on the MRBC campus to study an endorsed book or Bible-based book/video study material. Attendees are encouraged to be present at the weekly gatherings but are under no obligation to do so. The gatherings will primarily consist of light refreshments, prayer time, a devotional or video session, and discussion time.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10: 24-25
Our goal is to provide a place for moms to have a MOMent to relax with friends, to reflect on life as a mom and to renew spiritually and mentally. MOMents is designed for mothers with children ages infancy through sixth grade. MOMents is open to every mom in the community! If you know an expectant mom or mother of elementary children who could use a lift, be sure to tell them about MOMents!
MOMents currently meets on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30 A.M. We have great things happening in a very short meeting time. You’ll want to make every effort to arrive promptly so you don’t miss anything! Please drop off your children at 9:15 A.M.
For the Kids
Separate rooms are provided to accommodate different age levels, with age-appropriate activities planned for each meeting.
In case of inclement weather, we follow the Monclova Christian Academy school policy. There will be no meetings in case of school delays or cancellations. Please tune in to your local TV or radio station for appropriate school closing information.
God has a unique plan for women within His church. We offer ministry opportunities for our women that allow them to use their talents and spiritual gifts to minister to one another and reach out to others.
“…To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke… to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house…” – Isaiah 58:6-7
Many of our women help provide meals for funeral dinners, new mothers, and families in times of crisis.
Letters of Love
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” – 1Corinthians 15:58
Letters of Love is our greeting card ministry. It is designed to bring encouragement, enlightenment, peace, and joy to our church family through hand-made cards. Our ladies meet the last Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in one of their homes to design cards and hand-written letters filled with scriptural messages appropriate for the recipient.
Sewing Ministry – Hearts & Hands for Missions
Our ladies meet in the church library for the quilting ministry. The quilts are stitched by talented volunteers and then donated to missionaries to be used in needy places around the world. Currently, the quilts are being sent to Mexico for use in a children’s home. Check the church calendar for meeting dates.
“The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” – Titus 2:3-5
We desire for the women in our church of different generations to come alongside each other and nurture the souls of another by putting Titus 2:3-5 into practice. We desire to pair young believers with older, mature believers who can assist in spiritual growth and development, as well as educate in home-making skills and successful living. The MOMents and RefresHer programs currently foster this special relationship.
Our Women’s Ministry cherishes motherhood and the important role a mom plays in the lives of her children. To celebrate this special relationship, we host mother-son and mother-daughter events semi-annually. These events typically involve a brunch, tea, or luncheon, a devotional, and activities geared for moms of all ages and their children.
The Women’s Ministry always has exciting plans for fellowship, spiritual enrichment, and outreach throughout the year. All women are invited to attend and bring guests! You will always find a welcoming environment and walk away feeling blessed and encouraged.
The Young at Heart ministry is designed for adults ages 55 and older. Our major purpose is to provide times of fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual enrichment.
The Young at Heart Sunday school class meets every Sunday at 11:00 A.M. in room G102. Come enjoy an inviting atmosphere where you can hear the Word of God expounded, share prayer requests, and enjoy refreshments and fellowship with Godly believers.
In addition to the weekly Sunday school class, we schedule special events, such as meal outings, tours, holiday parties, and trips to scenic places. Everyone is welcome regardless of church affiliation. Please view the image below for a list of this upcoming years events.
At Monclova Road Baptist Church, we feel it is not only important to lead people to saving faith in Christ, but to help believers of all levels grow in their daily walk with Christ. Many of our ministries involve person-to-person discipleship.
We offer Sunday School classes for all ages within our church. Sunday school is the perfect opportunity to learn in a small group setting, develop relationships, and study the Bible on a deeper level.
In the student ministry, #mrbcteens, students are paired with leaders who provide encouragement and accountability for spiritual disciplines, such as daily quiet time, Scripture memory, and Christian service. The leaders are also accountable to each other in the same spiritual disciplines.
In the MOMents ministry, young mothers enjoy an environment where they can learn from older women who have already been through similar experiences and can share from their years of Godly wisdom.
We often host a men’s breakfast and a men’s Bible study that fosters relationships between older and younger men. We continually challenge our men to be Godly leaders in their homes and work places.
If you are interested in joining or serving in one of our ministries, please contact the church office:
The Music Ministry of MRBC is focused on worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ. We do so through the exciting hymns of our faith and vibrant new spiritual songs. Together, they provide a platform upon which we as a church family worship our Creator. People are involved in a variety of ways, from the adult and children’s choirs to soloists, ensembles, and instrumental groups. In each, our desire is to lift up Christ. Whether you choose to be involved in one of these specific areas or not we invite you to worship the Lord with us!
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
We encourage each of our members to care for his body as the temple of God by offering health and fitness classes throughout the year.
In the fall and winter we utilize Bod4God, a faith-based weight-loss program developed by author and pastor, Steve Reynolds. Sessions usually run for a 13-week span and include book/DVD training, group discussion, and team challenges. In the summer, we encourage everyone to continue healthy living by hosting shorter sessions that may involve group exercise, book discussion, and DVD training. Those involved in Bod4God have found the accountability and encouragement to be key to their personal success!
All those in the church and community looking to lose weight or to simply craft their own healthy lifestyle are invited to attend. Check the church calendar or contact us for more information.
GriefShare is a nationally-recognized program designed for those who have lost a loved one. The ministry consists of weekly meetings and special holiday sessions to support those who are grieving. Regular sessions are held at MRBC throughout the year and are open to anyone in the community. If you have lost someone close to you, or if you know someone who has, we invite you to join us on Monday evening, September 12, 2016 for a new session. We begin at 6:30 P.M. in the Community Room. Every week you will experience expert video sessions, support and discussion, and personal study.
You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group on any night. Each is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin. You will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next 13-week cycle and view any of the videos you have not seen. Try GriefShare for at least three weeks and see how God can use it in your life.
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15
It is our mandate to proclaim the Gospel to people everywhere. It is our desire for people to come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. MRBC has several ministries to facilitate this Gospel outreach.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:18-20
Soul-winning is not only a privilege but a commandment. We need you to be a part of spreading the Gospel and winning our community to Jesus Christ. With your soul-winning night, you will have hands-on experience in sharing the Gospel with the lost, and in doing so, you, too, can become an efficient soul-winner.
General Visitation: Every Monday night at 7:00 P.M.
If you have never gone soul-winning and have no experience, or would like to become a better soul-winner, you will be paired up with an experienced person who can teach you. All you have to do is be willing to go!
The MRBC Jail Ministry is designed to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with local inmates. Men and women from our church meet each week with men’s and ladies’ groups at the jail to teach Biblical principles, show love and encouragement, and lead people into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Those who are able to participate in the jail ministry meet on Sundays and Wednesdays of each week.
For over ten years, the members of MRBC have been ministering to the residents of nine local nursing homes, where they preach, pray, and sing with those residents who are unable to attend regular church services. These mini-services have been a great blessing to those at the nursing homes, but those who participate are being blessed as well.
Those who are able to participate meet at the nursing home every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. and every Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.
WIN: Whatever you do, Invest your talents in the Name of the Lord.
